Welcome to the Woodworking Area
of The Open Design Project

I had not planed on putting up the woodworking area until I got to the built-in furniture for the Small House Project---but my wife posted a description of a plywood toilet I made about four years ago for her for her birthday in some forums that she visits regularly, and the toilet garnered a lot of interest. I stated that if there was enough interest in plans for the toilet, that I would model the stupid thing and put them up on the website.

There was enough interest, I did model the plywood toilet, and I have put the plans up for download. So there! When I get far enough along, this will become the main entrance to  the woodworking stuff, but for now------------ toilet plans.

I also moved the Yacht Design page and a brief page about the Aztec Bedroom Suite over here until I can figure out how I am going to organize things.

Another area of interest is the iDoor tutorial for Autodesk Inventor. It is a tutorial for a 3D model of a kitchen cabinet style door that can be dropped into a kitchen assembly model as many times as its needed, and can be quickly resized to fit every opening---and will accurately re-size all of the parts. The rails and stiles themselves can be individually sized for special circumstances as well.

The next tutorials will add hinge drilling, and the one after that will automate the output of drawings and cut lists. The whole thing will be folded into the kitchen design for the Small House plans when I get to that point, and the drawings and final 3D model and animation will be made available.

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have, and would very likely design a piece of furniture and put up the free plans if it seems as though there would be a general interest. Post any requests in the Woodworking Forum and I'll answer it there.
