Page 18 - Sketching the Raised Panel Completed - Starting the Panel Cutter Sketch

 Almost done with this sketch. the last thing to do is window select the two lines below the arc and change them to construction gometry. The compleated sketch should look like the one below to the right.       

   

Before exiting the sketch, rotate the sketch to an isometric view and hit the E key on your keyboard.

The profile should immediatly try to extrude the default 1", if so, all is well. Click cancel, exit the sketch, and save the part. now it is time to create the last sketch plane. This one will be created tangent to a line. To start, make the XY origin plane visible, then Zoom in on the area you were just working on. Now get the Plane tool from the Work Features panel. Click on the point shown in the image to the lower left, then on the XY origin plane. You will now have a plain on that point parallel to the XY origin plane as shown in the right-hand image.
