This new feature for Inventor 2013 has actually been around for a couple years as a free add-in created by QubeIt. The built-in one that is now available in Inventor is nice in that it has all of the rectangle commands in one drop-down list instead of the extra add-in one but, unfortunately, they only included two of the four tools that were in Brian’s add-in…
Best guess is that the other two tools will be dribbled out in a future release –or maybe the old add-in still works? Whatever the case may be, on to the functionality of the tools.
I use the tool quite a bit since what I draw is for the most part rectangular (cabinetry, architecture, etc). I generally use the Two Point Center version of the Rectangle tool as the very first element in a cabinet design to represent the rectangular shape of the cabinet, and dimension it with parameters for Overall Width and Case_Depth…

The tool shaves a bit of time off of your design time, and reduces the frustration caused by poor choice of design tools. Definitely a welcome addition, I just hope Brian got a little something-something for his efforts ;-)
